The service brings urgent medical assistance to anywhere in the province, operating 7 days a week for 12 hours per day. The HEMS team attend patients who are seriously ill or injured, bringing emergency pre-hospital care direct to the casualty with the aim of saving lives, brains and limbs. The aircraft can reach anywhere in Northern Ireland in approximately twenty-five minutes.
As a local charity, Air Ambulance NI aspires to raise £3 million each year to maintain and sustain this service so public donations are crucial.
Thanks to the incredible generosity and support from the public, we continue to be there when it matters most. It’s not just our medics saving lives – it’s every supporter that makes this service possible.
Our Memorandum of Understanding enables 15 doctors and 8 paramedics provided by NIAS to fly on board our aircraft 7 days per week. This enables the provision of advanced clinical interventions, treatments and care to patients before reaching hospital. NIAS has responsibility for all aspects of clinical governance including the provision of a rapid response vehicle at the base.
